Another BLO Kills Self Over SIR Load In West Bengal

BERHAMPORE: Another booth level officer (BLO) ended his life in West Bengal after failing to deal with work pressure of the Election Commission's special intensive revision (SIR) of the voters’ list.
The deceased, Hamimul Islam (37), was the BLO of 282 East Alaipur polling booth at Bhagwangola Assembly constituency in Murshidabad. He was a primary school head master by profession.
Islam was found hanging in the office room at his workplace, Charkrishnapur Boys' Primary School, on Saturday night, according to his family. The cops of the Ranitala police station recovered the body later.
Islam’s wife Sima Bibi said, “My husband committed suicide due to depression and work load in the SIR and school. He was under treatment but the EC officials did not relieve him."
Another family member, Farmanul Islam, said, "My brother went to his primary school on Saturday morning but did not return till night. Even his mobile phone was switched off. We lodged a missing diary at Ranitala police station. His mobile phone is still missing.”
The police sent the body for post-mortem, registered an unnatural death case and started an inquiry.
