Truck on wrong side crashes into mini-bus near Jabalpur; officials rush to site

Bhopal: Eight pilgrims returning from Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh to Hyderabad were on Tuesday killed and another injured when the mini-bus in which they were travelling was hit by a speeding truck near Sihora in Jabalpur district in Madhya Pradesh, police said.
The incident took place on National Highway 30 at around 8.30 in the morning, Sihora police station in-charge B B Singh told this newspaper.
While seven people died on the spot, another person succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
Another injured man was admitted to district hospital in Jabalpur, police said.
The victims hailed from Nacharam, Hyderabad, police said.
The Jabalpur district collector and superintendent of police rushed to the spot to oversee rescue operations and make arrangements to admit the injured to the hospital.
There were a total 14 people in the ill-fated mini-bus when the accident happened, police said.
Union minister of state Bandi Sanjay called the Jabalpur district collector and the SP to get details about the incident and urged them to ensure proper medical care for the injured and take necessary steps to hand over the bodies to their respective kin, official sources said.
