Speeding Bus From Kanpur To Indore Hits Bridge Safety Wall In Rajgarh

Five people were killed and 12 sustained injuries after a speeding sleeper bus crashed into the safety wall of a bridge in Madhya Pradesh's Rajgarh district on Friday morning, police said.The accident occurred around 7 am on the Bhopal bypass bridge in Biaora, an official said.

He said that the bus was on its way to Indore from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, and it lost control and crashed into the safety wall while negotiating a bend on the bridge.
Police arrived at the scene and shifted the injured to the Civil Hospital in Biaora, from where four critically injured victims were referred to Bhopal for treatment.
Rajgarh Superintendent of Police Amit Tolani said that five people, including a policeman, were killed in the accident, while 12 others, including two women, were injured.
He said the windows shattered due to the impact of the crash, causing passengers in the upper sleeper berths to fall out of the bus.
The deceased include Ravi KP (45), a police inspector from Bengaluru; Vikas Shukla (29), a bus driver from Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh; Belal Ali (23) of Gopalganj, Bihar; Guddu Kushwaha from Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh; and Jyotiradit Singh from Vijayawada.
Prima facie, the bus's overspeeding appears to have caused the accident, the official added.
