3 PCPIR in Gujarat, AP, Odisha Attract Rs.3.5 Lakh Cr investment So Far: Govt

New Delhi: The government on Tuesday said three Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Regions (PCPIR) in Gujarat, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh have so far attracted a total investment of nearly Rs 3.5 lakh crore.In a written reply to the Rajya Sabha,

Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilisers Anupriya Patel said, "The three PCPIR regions have, till date, attracted a total investment of Rs 3,49,192 crore, resulting in creation of new manufacturing capacity in respect of a total of 2,246 industrial units and generating employment for 3,71,263 persons."

The total investments till March 31, 2014 stood at Rs 1,40,537 crore. The three PCPIRs are located at Dahej in Gujarat, Visakhapatnam-Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh and Paradeep in Odisha.
She said the ministry monitors the progress of infrastructure development in the three PCPIR regions from time to time through review meetings with representatives of the state governments of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Gujarat.
As per the PCPIR Policy, the respective state governments provide the necessary infrastructure facilities inside the PCPIR regions for the benefit of the industry, Patel said.
