2 Tigers Found Dead In MP Reserves, Toll Increases To 23 This Year So Far
A decomposed carcass of an adult tiger was found in the Vanmarg sanctuary area under the PTR late on Tuesday, forest officials said on Wednesday.

Bhopal: Two tigers were found dead in Madhya Pradesh- one from Panna Tiger Reserve (PTR) and the other from Kanha Tiger Reserve (KTR).
A decomposed carcass of an adult tiger was found in the Vanmarg sanctuary area under the PTR late on Tuesday, forest officials said on Wednesday.
The carcass was believed to be 20-25 days old, a forest officer said.
“Cause of the death of the tiger was yet to be ascertained. We are probing into all angles including poaching”, the forest officer said, unwilling to be quoted.
The carcass was found during a routine patrolling, the forest officer said.
In a separate incident, the carcass of a tiger cub was found in Sari forest range in the KTR on Tuesday.
All the organs were found intact in the carcass indicating that it might not be a case of poaching.
Postmortem of the carcass will ascertain the exact cause of death, a forest officer said.
With this, 23 tigers have so far died in Madhya Pradesh in the current year so far.
Madhya Pradesh has earned the tag of ‘Tiger State’ for being home to the highest number of tigers in the country at 785, as per the 2022 tiger census.
