Tirupati: Three youths from Chennai drowned in a pond at the foot of Bhupateswara Kona Waterfall in Nagalapuram mandal of Tirupati district on Tuesday. Their bodies were fished out after a gruelling search.
According to Satyavedu circle inspector N. Siva Kumar Reddy, a group of five friends from Chennai arrived at the waterfalls on Tuesday morning. They left for Bhupateswara Kona, a water body deep within the forest about seven km from the reservoir site at 9 am. Their celebrations at the waterfalls lasted till 10 am when three members of the group went missing. After a futile search, the other two friends sought the help of the police.
