Delhi Police inducted a new batch of 30 dogs to bolster the strength of its canine squad in presence of Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung and city Police Commissioner Alok Kumar Verma.- The dogs will be used for anti-sabotage operations, building security, crime scene and for different calls, says police.
- The trained dogs are allocated to different districts across the national capital and are called to the crime scene as required.
- Since the dogs were trained by the army fully, they cost around Rs. 1.7 lakh per dog.
- Of the 30 dogs inducted, 20 are tracker dogs and 10 are explosive experts. We require these dogs in crime scenes, says a police official.
- The batch, which contains canines of breeds such as Labrador Retrievers and German Shepherds, would take the total strength of Delhi police's dog squad to 60.
