When was the last time you felt like taking your entire family including grandparents who love to watch Kannada movies, for a movie treat? The answer would be obviously – ‘not so recently.’ Despite few good films in the recent past, there was always a dearth of a pure family entertainer, as star actors have been busy advertising themselves in the name of commercial films while neglecting the vital aspects of a film - story, making and most of all films which appeals to the 'general' audience and not just their die-hard fans! However, Maduveya Mamatheya Kareyole, which marks the debut of lyricist Kaviraj as director, has chosen the simplest story with an effective narration, which makes it a must watch for family audience.
Unlike other debut ventures, it is a neat attempt which is a perfect fun and entertaining one for little over two hours. The predictable journey is about two friendly neighbouring families, which further moves forward with the pretty and the dashing one from the two fall in love, and then the wedding bell starts ringing. The best aspect of the making here is the emotional content coupled with the essential entertainment which never decimates the level of fun.
The debutant has worked hard on defining every character irrelevant of its screen presence, and this is another winner which makes the audience connect well with the onscreen family and not just about the hero or the heroine. The humour is fresh, and even the multiple scenes right till the end. Modest in his character Anant Nag yet again proves his calibre, and Achyuth Kumar adds perfection while trying to match his senior counterpart.
A retired principal (Anant Nag) with a happy family including a beautiful daughter is a content man, and his friendly neighbour for years headed by a RTO officer (Achyuth Kumar) are equally fun loving people. When everything is on track with even the pretty couple from the two families are about to be married, there comes a ‘break’ in their relationship. No less than the experience of a Bollywood's Suraj Barjatiya film with typical family centred subject, this one is even more simpler and made with a reasonable budget.
The three A’s – Ananth Nag, Achyuth Kumar and Amulya with her bullet riding avatar are the entertaining pillars in terms of performances, but for the debut hero Suraj, he definitely needs to learn from the scratch, be it acting, expression or even dancing! The package such as the principal who cannot drive, but learns it in his post retirement age, a 'selfie' obsessed aunty, the driving instructors, or even while imitating popular dialogues of Huccha Venkat are tailor made for all ages. Yes, it may seem like a glittery TV soap, but who cares when it is entertaining, and a best reason for the families to sit together and enjoy the movie time without getting embarrassed by any double meaning dialogues or any kind of vulgarity.
