Mumbai: Technology giant Apple has been rumoured to launch a new 4-inch iPhone, iPad 3, and an upgraded version of the Apple Watch at an event to be held in March, according to a report.
Earlier, there were numerous rumours about the Cupertino-based company releasing a new 4-inch model, which was speculated to be named iPhone 6c or iPhone 5e.
However, a fresh report by 9to5Mac pointed out that the new 4-inch handset would be known as the iPhone 5se, where ‘se’ stands for special edition. Also, the new device is expected to be an upgraded version of the best-selling iPhone 5s, and not a preview of the iPhone 7.
The smaller screen size on the new 5se is focused on satisfying potential consumers who are looking for a smaller screen-sized device with enhanced specifications.
The upcoming iPhone will feature upgraded internals, software, and hardware features including the ‘Live Photos’ feature on the Apple iPhone 6 and 6s models.
According to sources, the new iPhone 5se will be similar to the 5s in terms of design, but will sport curved glass visible on the iPhone 6 and 6s variants.
In terms of camera, the device will borrow an 8MP primary camera and a 1.2MP front snapper from the iPhone 6. However, it will support larger panoramas and auto-focus for video recording.
Moreover, it will have a barometer for tracking elevation in the health app, an NFC chip for Apple Pay, and upgraded chips from the iPhone 6 variant.
The most noticeable addition will be the attractive ‘Live Photos’ feature that can be found on the iPhone 6s. The iPhone 5se will be available in silver, space grey, gold, and Rose Gold colour options.
According to the report, the iPhone 5se will not only serve as an upgraded model, but will also pave way for the company to discontinue the older 4-inch models. The new handset will also take up the price point of the older iPhone 5s.
Upgraded Apple Watch
Apart from the new smartphone, Apple is also expected to refresh its earlier Apple Watch with new bands, an upgraded OS, and complete redesigning. Other than that, the company will also launch the Apple Watch 2 with major improvements later in 2016.
iPad Air 3 expected
The next iPad, which is most likely to be known as the iPad Air 3, is also speculated to make a March debut, according to 9to5Mac.
The upcoming iPad will be a successor to the famed iPad 2 that was released in 2014 and is still considered a favourite among users. Currently, there are no updates regarding the technical specifications of the upcoming tablet.
Having said that, the tight-lipped company, as usual, has not confirmed any of the above-mentioned details....
