Man Caught Begging on Bengaluru Metro

An unidentified person was caught on camera seeking alms from fellow passengers onboard a metro train on Tuesday

BENGALURU: An unidentified person was caught on camera seeking alms from fellow passengers onboard a metro train on Tuesday in between 11.10 am and 11.15 am. The passenger seeking alms from fellow passengers was recorded by a passenger before the video clip went viral on social networking sites on Wednesday. The video clip showed none of the fellow passengers responded to the alms seeking person.

Search is on to trace the passenger who went seeking alms and Bengaluru Metro Rail Transport Corporation (BMRCL) termed the alms seeking on board a metro train as one of the “rare” incidents.

A passenger on board recorded the person seeking alms and posted it immediately on a social networking site. Immediately, security personnel of Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) came across the video and swung into action to secure the passenger seeking alms.

BMRCL sources told Deccan Chronicle on Wednesday the person seeking alms noticed Home Guards and suspecting that Home Guards would catch him for his alms seeking act on board a metro train managed to mask himself as a normal passenger to sit amongst the fellow passengers and continued his journey.

“His dress sense seems to be okay,” said the BMRCL source and stated the unidentified passenger boarded the metro train at Majestic station and alighted at Dasarahalli metro station.

A year and half back, security personnel of BMRCL caught a person seeking donations from fellow passengers using Quick Response (QR) code and the donation seeking by a passenger on a metro train came to the notice of BMRCL security personnel and he was caught.

Meanwhile, BMRCL source said a police complaint will be registered to trace the person who was engaged in seeking alms from fellow passengers on board a metro train.
