Looking back at some of the city’s most talked about events this year: from over-the-top weddings to landmark birthday celebrations, we saw it all!
Ivanka Trumps Hyderabad
Hyderabad’s most distinguished international guest this year was Ivanka Trump, daughter of the President of the United States. Ivanka led a delegation for the Global Entrepreneurship Summit held in the city this year. A dinner hosted for her at the famous 101 Table at the Falaknuma Palace was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several other ministers, dignitaries and business tycoons. The whole city was beautified in Ivanka’s honour.
Landmark celebrations
P.P. Reddy, still another billionaire businessman, threw a grand party for his 60th birthday that had Sunny Leone performing for his guests!
Mahesh Reddy of AMR Constructions celebrated his 50th birthday on a luxury cruise abroad. What was astounding was that he took along 135 close friends and family from Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai along with him too. All guests flew business class for an ‘all-paid for’ trip.
Sudha Reddy, the wife of yet another billionaire businessman, Megha Krishna Reddy, celebrated her 39th birthday in Paris. For her part, she chose to donate generously to charitable causes. Liz Hurley was one of the recipients of her charity.
Big fat weddings
Sanjay and Pinky Reddy’s son, Keshav’s wedding with Veena, was one of the first grand weddings in the city this year. With decorations by famous duo Abu-Sandeep, the guest list included the crème de la crème of the nation, such as the Ambanis, Amitabh Bachchan, Rajinikanth and many more celebrities, political bigwigs and industrialists. Bollywood actors Ranveer Singh and Jacqueline Fernandez had performed at the sangeet.
On par with that big fat city wedding was that of Boinapally Srinivas Rao’s daughter, Hasini with Anuj Kolla. While Karan Johar and Neha Dhupia hosted the sangeet ceremony, the event saw the likes of Shahid Kapoor, Vaani Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Sidharth Malhotra and others setting the stage on fire.
