A new claim is doing the rounds which says that wearing slippers to work may boost “productivity”.
A retailer is calling out UK citizens to wear their slippers to their work place and claims that doing so could boost their mood and thus their productivity.
A spokesperson for UK label Shoegarden said that it is now increasingly acceptable to dress in an off-duty, effortless style in the workplace.
He went on to add, “We feel employees should work in comfort and we therefore sell a huge variety of indoor slippers with contoured footbed insoles to ensure utmost comfort and foot support.”
Shoegarden even claim that their staff wears slippers in their headquarters.
According to a spokesperson for the brand, they found this to be tremendously beneficial for workplace performance.
And this isn’t the first time that slippers have been suggested at appropriate working footwear.
In January his year, Findern Primary School in Derby raised eyebrows after announcing plans to let its pupils wear slippers in the classroom.
It came after a a 10-year study by Bournemouth University suggested children who learned with no shoes on were more likely to behave better and obtain good grades.
It also found that removing shoes in the classroom created a calmer and quieter environment, even reducing bullying in some cases.
