The ride of a lifetime

A group of students were in for a surprise when actor Vinay Forrt joined them aboard the Kochi Metro.

It was a proud and happy moment for the students of Labour India Gurukulam School, Marangattupally, Kottayam, and Our Lady School, Mannakanad, when they got to meet actor Vinay Forrt aboard the Kochi Metro on Friday. The journey was a part of the study tour programme for the 96 students of Labour India School. When they travelled to Kochi, they took 45 deaf and mute students from Our Lady School, all studying in class 10, along with them.

The students were pretty excited about exploring Kochi Metro. It was a chance for them to get familiar with the latest mode of transportation. However, the presence of Vinay Forrt in the train was the icing on the cake. Their excitement reached its peak when he boarded the train to join them from Palarivattom to Aluva and back.

After Vinay boarded the train, the students were busy taking selfies with him and some even rendered his famous “java” dialogue from the movie Premam.

“We got on the train at 11.15 a.m.. It was Vinay’s first ride too. He too was equally excited,” says Manju, who travelled with the team. “He interacted with all children and even went live on Facebook. The children, especially those who are deaf and mute, were quite active during the ride. They could read our lip movements and were well-informed about the actor. They asked him about his movies, his wife and child. Whenever he couldn’t comprehend, they wrote their questions. And, took selfies with the actor. It was a fun ride for all,” she adds.

For Vinay too, it was an opportunity to talk about his latest release Kadam Kadha. He shared his school memories with them, exhorted them to use the metro whenever they come to Kochi, and finally told them to strive hard to realise their dreams.

Suja K. George, Principal, Labour India School, and teachers Sujith John and Ancy Thomas led the journey.Gold Medal. The awards will be distributed during a ceremony to be held on August 19 at Durbar Hall. An exhibtion of award-winning works will be held for public later.
