Green Grandeur!
A world-class 300-acre garden, housing a collection of succulents — both unique and beloved, as well as drought-tolerant plants from around the world, is coming up on the city outskirts with an investment of around Rs 300 crore.
The garden is the brainchild of Hyderabad-based businessman R. Ramdev, whose company Unique Trees has provided exotic trees to celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Chiranjeevi, Jr. NTR, Surya and many business tycoons from across India. Apart from sprucing up celebrity homes, they also supply trees to airports and five-star hotels.
“I wanted to provide the highest quality plants to customers, along with unique offerings that hadn’t been available before, that’s how Unique Trees came into existence,” says Ramdev, who is now coming up with 300 acres of lush green garden space to attract more visitors. “It will have the best of trees and plants from across the world along with a man-made lake (around 60 acres),” reveals Ramdev, who feels that nature gives you much more than you expect without wanting anything in return.
“Every student should visit this place and understand how nature is so important for us. We will make sure that we motivate every school to visit us. We lack awareness of environmental issues and I hope to contribute to the cause in my own small way,” he adds.
The Green Kingdom is being developed with the help of his friend and art curator, Kaali Sudheer. “The project cost is close to Rs 300 crore plus and it’s 30 per cent complete. All technology and art is being taken care of by my friend Kaali Sudheer, who is a well known art curator of Hyderabad. He will be responsible for getting more than 3,000 stone sculptures here and the works of more than 100 noted artists from across the world will be on display,” says Ramdev, adding, “We will also have a 50-foot tall tree made of steel which will have projection mapping shows every day.”
Interestingly, his previous venture Unique Trees was started in 2011 with an initial investment of Rs 36 crore, and has a seemingly inexhaustible selection of exotic plants on display, a considerable portion of which even seasoned gardeners, horticulturists and botanists would probably never have seen.
