Shades of nature

Hyderabad-based designer Nithya Reddy’s latest collection, Fiora Tales, was on display at the India Fashion Week in New Delhi recently.

Her abundant love for nature can be seen in each bespoke and prêt wear piece that she designs. To keep the creations fresh and inimitable, Hyderabad-based designer Nithya Reddy crafts each of her outfits using jute and handloom fabrics and incorporates embossed embroidery and motifs depicting nature.

The designer’s latest collection — Fiora Tales was recently on display at the India Fashion Week SS’20, and showcased outfits made of light breathable fabrics like jute, kora cotton and khadi with a touch of organza to give a sheer appearance. “The weaves are basic. But we have used mostly pastels from the colour palette, with emphasis on pink, yellow and ivory” says Nithya, who adds that she does not blindly follow trends in the fashion world.

“Trends are important as they help in creating different moods and designs for the seasons. But I never let the current trend overpower my aesthetics. Experimenting with light and simple silhouettes with handcrafted embroidery gives a chic look. Layering is another technique to make your look different and on point,” she adds.

Her latest collection is inspired by the vintage French houses with beautiful floral wall art telling their own stories. “The culture, crafts and murals of the 70’s and 80’s are my main inspiration,” reveals the designer.
