Legendary singer Bryan Adams will be performing in the city on October 13. We catch up with him ahead of his trip to India, and find out what he has in store for us

The legendary soft rock sensation, Bryan Adams needs no introduction. His signature feel-good rock and roll and big ballads are soulful, evergreen and tugs at your heart’s strings. After eight long years; the icon will set foot in the Indian soil as part of his nineteenth tour titled the Ultimate, which is a heady amalgamation of 21 select tracks from his career, spanning four decades. The nobility of his ideals are reflective in his body of work, and spills over to his persona in general. From finding meat eating disgusting to how his time in India has always been intriguing; Bengaluru Chronicle gets chatty with the Canadian singer-songwriter, who will be performing live in town on October 13.

‘It’s always an adventure when I’ve been in India’: Letting us in on how his earlier visits were sprinkled with interesting escapades, Bryan shares, “It’s always an adventure when I’ve been here. On my first trip to India, there were no cars to collect us, so Keith my guitarist and I got in a taxi from the airport. The suspension was broken in the car so we leaned over the seat to watch where we were going. Along the way we had to stop because an elephant had gone to sleep in the middle of the road. That story would not happen anywhere else in the world, welcome to India. it’s always an adventure when I’ve been there. This will be our fifth tour of India, I’m not sure many artists have done that from the West.”

‘In order to continue to have a career, you have to tour’
The Tour, which has been the talk of the town for really long, derives it’s name from an album release. Speaking of which, Bryan says, “The tour we are bringing to India took a couple of years of tuning and changing things. It’s called the Ultimate tour because of the album we released last December called Ultimate. It’s a collection of songs which truly represent the live show, even the arrangements on some of the songs in this collection are slightly different.”

‘I’m more like one of those space stations that floats along and every now and then an astronaut pops out and says hi’: His works are eternal and he’s aware that his music here to stay. “There are artistes that will last for a long time, and there are artistes that are shooting stars and burn bright for a moment. That’s the way it is. I’m more like one of those space stations that floats along and every now and then an astronaut pops out and says hi,” shares Bryan, who’s quite clear about who he wants to collaborate with. “Drake, Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Taylor Swift,” he says.

‘Eating animals is disgusting and dangerous for long term good health’: Bryan’s switch to veganism was all over social media, and rightly so. Speaking of which, he says, “Eating animals is disgusting and dangerous for long term good health I advocate it on my social media because I know it worked for me, so if it worked for me, it will work for others. It’s all about having the knowledge on a healthier way to live. Eating animals is disgusting and dangerous for long term good health. Animals are my friends and I don’t eat my friends.”

A believer of altruism, Bryan likes to put forth the intent behind his social activities in rather simple words. “I think we all need to try leaving the world in a better place than when we arrived, so, I hope that I will achieve that on some level.”
