Creativity's right up her alley
When her friend Vijay Kumar called Harija to be a part of his YouTube channel, Eruma Saani, Harija didn’t have any apprehensions, nor did she think it would become a hit with netizens. “I know Vijay for a long time. He is a good friend of mine and when he called and explained the concept, I was thrilled. It’s been a month and a half since we launched our channel that features various comedy sketches,” says Harija, who rose to fame with the channel that deals with young romance and break-ups in a hilarious manner. She’s also the face of several memes doing their rounds online!
With a passion for acting, Harija has acted in more than 50 short films during her college. “I did my graduation in VisCom from PSG Coimbatore; the college is well-known for short filmmakers. So I didn’t miss any chance to act! I was lucky to have got an opportunity to act in a handful of projects,” she adds.
The 22-year-old, who hails from Kerala, is settled in Coonoor with her parents. “I was attracted towards acting right from my childhood and have acted in a lot of school festivals also.”
Thirsting to be creative, Harija started her own ad agency, Three Monks, with her friends, a few months ago. “I always wanted to do something creative. And starting an ad agency with my friends was quite challenging,” says Harija.
After its inception, the Eruma Saani team has been getting both positive and negative comments. “I take all the constructive criticism in a positive way — it helps me grow better as an actor. That said, I do receive a lot of harsh comments, which I don’t consider at all. Our channel is just for entertainment purposes and people should take it in that light,” the youngster adds.
Being an entrepreneur and an actor, Harija shares that her love for acting keeps her going — “I love to juggle multiple roles. Sometimes, it is tough. But I love what I do, and it motivates me.”
Like any other upcoming actress, she wants to do meaningful roles in films as well. “If somebody approaches me with a good script, I will definitely take it up.
Even if it’s not the main role, I would love to do some character role that gives me scope to perform.”
We ask her if there are films awaiting her. “I have been getting calls from the industry. But I haven’t finalised anything,” concludes Harija.
