A night to remember
The Mumbai chapter of Anushka and Virat Kohli’s wedding reception was held at the St Regis. The event saw its share of drama and excitement as ace fashion designers Sabyasachi Mukherjee and Raghavendra Rathore sparred over Kohli’s bandhgala outfit on social media.
Stealing the thunder
Rekha walked in to a loud cheer. She posed for the shutterbugs and returned to pose with Madhuri Dixit and Kangana Ranaut. We’re all aware of Rekha’s proximity to Rakesh and Hrithik Roshan! Kangana even planted a peck on Rekha’s cheek after seeing Rekha do it to Madhuri. Rekha was a ‘tad over-dressed’. She wore a heavier silk saree and more jewellery than Anushka did at her wedding.
Awkward Moment
Kangana and Karan Johar made sure not to run into each other. Kangana was on the red carpet posing with Rekha and Madhuri when Karan arrived with Sidharth Malhotra. Kangana immediately rushed inside as though she suddenly remembered something important. Rekha looked quite taken aback by her sudden departure. Karan saw Kangana’s hasty departure, but pretended he couldn’t care less. Rekha quickly joined Karan to pose for pictures.
Jaya was MIA
The Bachchans arrived sans the lady of the house, Jaya Bachchan. Amitabh, with his hand in a sling, was escorted by daughter, Shweta.
A starry event
The who’s who of Bollywood and the cricketing world were in attendance. All of Virat’s cricketing pals were present. Anushka invited all her colleagues, including NH10 co-star Darshan Kumar, and PK director Raj Kumar Hirani and producer Vinod Chopra. Anushka’s producer friend, Prernaa Arora was present too. Apparently, the two are planning a major post-wedding project for Anushka that will feature the actor in a dramatic, author-backed role.
Lessons from SRK
King Khan walked into the loudest cheer after Virat and Anushka. SRK taught Virat the dance moves from Chaiyya Chaiyya. He also taught Virat the lines from Jab Tak Hai Jaan to tell Anushka, albeit with a twist…“Baarishon mein bedhadak tere nachne se... baat baat pe bewajah tere roothne se... choti choti teri bachkani badmashiyon se ... mohabbat karoonga main... jab tak hai Khan, jab tak hai Khan…”
The Ziva wave
M.S. Dhoni’s two-year-old daughter Ziva was the cynosure of all eyes. The moment she saw the shutterbugs, she started waving at them.
