Army man slams mismanagement of demonetisation in stinging Facebook post
The government’s move to demonetise Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes has different reactions from different sections, with some criticising the move due to the way it was managed while others defending it saying people should endure inconvenience for the greater good.
In the arguments that followed, those in support tried to invoke patriotism, saying if soldiers can stand on borders to defend the country, why can’t people stand in cues. While the comparison between trained soldiers and common people drew flak on social media, one man got a stinging reply from an army man in a queue.
Darshan Dhillon, who served in the army for 20 years, was standing in line outside an ATM to withdraw his pension, when a pro-demonetisation man put a similar argument to him, as Dhillon wrote in a Facebook post.
The soldier gave it back to the man as he took the person by surprise by revealing details about his army career, and told the man to help get veterans with OROP and CPC instead of invoking patriotism at ATMs.
