This Mumbai sweeper who loves his job is an inspiration for Swachh Bharat

\"I'm attached to the service, and not a lot of people understand why, but there's a different kind of happiness in this service\"

Mumbai: Cleanliness has been a major issue for India since a long time and while some people simply complain and move on or just voice support for cleanliness drives like the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan on social media, there are those who are doing their bit for keeping their surroundings and the country clean.

The unsung heroes and perhaps the most important contributors of this battle against filth are those who sweep the streets and pick up the trash for a living. They do this even as the job is mostly looked down upon in society and they hardly get appreciation or media attention.

One of these people is a Mumbaikar who was featured by Facebook page Humans of Mumbai, as he tells how he loves his job of sweeping the streets.

The sweeper mentions how he wanted to serve society by becoming a police officer but failed in the first year and had to quit due to lack of finances. He became a sweeper to pay his bills, but later understood the importance of keeping neighbourhoods clean.

The man who has a tempo business now says that he hasn’t quit the job since he is attached with it. He says this work gives him a different kind of happiness that most people won’t understand.
