Britain's first woman to join infantry regiment quits just after 2 weeks

It is believed she was unable to cope with the physical requirements needed for the job.

The first woman to join an infantry regiment unit in the United Kingdom (UK) since the ban was lifted quit after just two weeks, The Sun reported.

She was one of three women to apply to join the unit in Suffolk and was the only one found to be physically fit to train along with 44 males.

Media reports reveal she did not perform as well as her comrades in the RAF Regiment on fitness tests during an 18-week course.

"Even though she was way off the pace of most of the men, she gained a lot of respect," a source told The Mail. Adding, "She tried her best and was honest enough to admit the course was too tough for her."

It is believed she admitted "having underestimated the physical requirements of being an infantry recruit", the report revealed.

The RAF was the first service to finally open its doors to women. UK's former PM David Cameron lifted the ban on women serving in combat units back in 2016.
