Wishes: Happy 11th birthday to Chennai Chronicle!
During our 10th anniversary last year on March 28, 2015, we at Chennai Chronicle really thought we’d seen and done it all over the decade — from influential visionaries and inspirational youngsters, to celebrity scandals and jet-setting trends.
However, something happened a few months ago, that pretty much changed all our perspectives on modern-day journalism, and motivated us to go above and beyond our call of duty. In a way, it probably even gave us a new purpose to our jobs. We are, of course, talking about the floods, that affected our entire city in ways we couldn’t even have imagined.
For most of us in our young team, it was the first time in our lives we’d actually been asked to show some real mettle — and how we responded! Braving the dangerous roads, torrential storms and a plethora of maladies to make it to work every day, we not only managed to deliver on our promise to produce quality content continuously — but also did it with the same bravado, style and gumption, that we’ve always been known for.
While the experience no doubt shook us, it has also reinvigorated us since and reaffirmed our obligation to our loyal readers — we have no plans to relinquish the bond we share with you anytime soon! As we enter our 12th year in the city, the Chennai Chronicle team has gotten younger and more current — with a lot of gung ho and an increased appetite to break stories. And we only plan to get more awesome from here.
This year, we’d like to leave you with this quote from someone we shall eternally trust and abide by; a certain bearded wizard, who goes by the name of Albus Dumbledore — “Words are, in my not-so-humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic. Capable of both inflicting injury, and remedying it.”
Words are all we have. And words are all we’ll need.

Hearty congratulations to DC on completing 11 years in Chennai. My best wishes to a daily that has been a huge source of inspiration for cricketers in Tamil Nadu. Cheers!

The city of Chennai has been so warm and friendly to me — always supportive of who I want to be, unlike other cities or industries — and that’s exactly what resonates with a paper like DC too. The tabloid is... well, ‘cool’ is the best way I’d describe it! Happy 11th, and I hope it stays the same way always!

I think Chennai Chronicle is the only supplement that looks youthful, colourful and caters to everybody. I am a star, so I make it a point that I read the cinema page that comes in the paper daily. What DC is now today after just 11 years in the market, is simply amazing.

DC and I share a special relationship. I have had fun interactions with the reporters, regardless of who they are. And, I like that they haven’t misquoted me or misinterpreted what I have said. Also there’s this young feel about the supplement. I think you guys have been doing a fabulous job. The energy of a 20-year-old going out for a special event? If that makes sense... a special mention goes to the tab photographers. They have a lot of aesthetic sense!

The best thing about DC is that its very impartial — they know to promote all talents equallyy. Since my early days as an entrepreneur, they have been extremely encouraging to me. They even gave me valuable suggestions for my own good. I can safely that I’m what I am, only because of this newspaper. I hope that the paper keeps evolving and is instrumental in supporting lots of other people. DC, you always rock!

What DC has achieved in 11 years is awesome. It’s not easy to compete with the other newspapers that’s been here for ages. I think Chennai Chronicle is the perfect blend that goes well with today’s youth. The newspaper has it all. Party, cinema and much more!

I think its DC that brought a revolutionary change to Page 3 culture in Chennai. It gave rise to a whole new range of celebrities of a new kind. It’s really a great paper for youngsters and I wish a great journey ahead for DC to celebrate many more anniversaries to come.
