Skateboarding is often associated with things that guys do for fun. But a group of young girls and women are aiming to change that by taking the streets on their wheels. A music video featuring young women in hot pink saris and sequins as they weave across the streets of Bengaluru is fighting patriarchal notions of what women are supposed to do.

The video also stars Atita Verghese who happens to be India’s first professional skateboarder and also the co-founder of Girl Skate India. Girl Skate India is the country’s first platform that features and connects female skateboarders as an exercise in gender empowerment.
