New York to Paris flight diverted to Ireland for toilet break

The toilets on the aircraft were not in a usable condition.

A long-haul flight was forced to land in a different country so that passengers could use the toilets. The OpenSkies airplane, which was travelling from New York to Paris, was diverted into Shannon Airport following complaints from passengers.

The onboard crew of the Boeing 767 have confirmed that the toilets on the aircraft could not be serviced properly at a time when 90 minutes of the journey were still remaining. So the flight’s 172 passengers were given the option to take a toilet break before the flight continued its journey that was already two hours behind schedule.

Later a team of engineers were able to fix the broken facilities during the intervening period. The airline has not released an official comment on the incident, according to the Independent.
