Youngsters are crazy about luxury cars: Roland Folger.

The average age of a luxury car buyer in India is 37 compared to 45 in the developed countries, says Mr Folger.

Visakhapatnam: There has been about 20 percent growth in luxury car sales in Andhra Pradesh in 2015, informed Roland Folger, MD and CEO of the Mercedes Benz, India. Mr Folger added that the average age of a luxury car buyer in India is 37 compared to 45 in the developed countries.

In the coming few years, Andhra Pradesh would escalate to the top slot in luxury car sales by crossing the national growth rate of 32 per cent. Many residents of tier-II and III citizens are evincing a keen interest in upgrading their cars to the luxury ones. The New Generation cars segment of our brand consists of more than 50 per cent of our sales volume, which is a testimony to the growing number of young customers, Mr Folger added.

On Saturday, the Mercedes-Benz conducted an innovative customer engagement event, LuxeDrive, which had drawn hundreds of Vizagites to Mangamaripeta of Visakhapatnam. Speaking on the occasion, chairman, Mahavir Motor, Yashwant Jhabakh, said that they are opening their first full-fledged showroom in Vijayawada soon.

“The burgeoning economy of Visakhapatnam makes it an emerging luxury care destination for a marquee brand like ours. We have sold about 160 Benz cars in Andhra Pradesh in 2015 and about 550 cars in Telangana during the same year,” Mr Jhabakh added.

The event showcased the technical expertise and superior performance of the luxury vehicles. This was demonstrated through a series of self-driving experiences on a specially designed test track by a team of expert drivers. A separate kids zone was an added attraction at the venue.
