Home remedies passed on for generations usually work but when all of that fails most people go to doctors to cure their sicknesses. Locals and tourists living in Bosnia and Herzegovina however use another method to get treat themselves; they get their eyeballs licked by an old lady in the village.
According to a report in the Metro, Hava Celebic or ‘nana Hava’ as she is popularly known in her village uses an unusual technique to cure the patients. The 80-year-old grandmother licks the eyeballs of people to remove lead, iron, coal, sawdust and glass. The old lady charges her patients 10 euros only and sterilizes her mouth before she licks the eyes.
The lady who has been doing this for a long time has cured over 5,000 people willing to use the unusual technique. Her patients include Americans, Russians and people from other nationalities too.
