App'solution for wrongdoings
Believers under a Roman Catholic archdiocese can now absolve themselves from sins; just by swiping right. Smell Tinder? No wonder if the app earned the nickname ‘Sindr’ within a few days after its launch in Vatican City. However, despite the similarity in the swiping, the new app, officially named the ‘Catholic App’ has very little to do with dating. Instead, it helps a user find the nearest confessional or centre for Holy Mass. The technology developed by software firm Musemantik uses the smart phone’s GPS tracker to guide the users to the nearest church.
Launching the app at St Peter’s Basilica in Rome, Archbishop of St Andrews & Edinburgh Leo Cushley has expressed hope to make an impact on, “how the Catholic Church brings the mercy of God and the joy of the Gospel to our contemporary world.” The user can access updated info regarding mass and event timings from the app that connects over 110 parishes in a 2000 sq.mile area. The Catholic App would go full-fledged from early next year.
