Twitter Rebranding Sparks Mixed Reactions

TIRUPATI: Rebranding of the Twitter logo to X by Elon Musk has triggered mixed reactions. While some netizens expressed confusion and dissatisfaction, others hailed the change as a “symbol of innovation and forward-thinking.”

The Twitter bird flew away on Tuesday. The social media platform is now showing the X logo in the bird’s place.

Musk made the announcement over the weekend and effected the change soon. The new logo is shown on the top-left of the Twitter home page. Even the loading icon has been replaced with the X.

Following the change, numerous Twitter users took to social media to express their responses. Some of them voiced the apprehension that the shift might lead to the loss of Twitter's unique essence, as it has for long been associated with the iconic blue bird logo.

However, several users welcomed the new logo, seeing it as an opportunity for a fresh start.

Many users, particularly from India, view the rebranding as an exciting next chapter and applaud Elon Musk's vision for transforming the top platform into an all-in-one hub for services beyond social media. Some feel nostalgic about losing the bird. A suggestion was that, alongside the rebranding, Twitter should focus attention on improving other areas, such as enhancing the user experience for its non-verified audience.

The introduction of the new logo also turned out to be a meme-worthy topic. Viral memes and reactions spread like wildfire, with users poking fun at the potential motivations behind such an unexpected shift. Humorous content flooded the platform, with users creatively incorporating the old Twitter bird into the new logo or making videos mocking the "hidden message" behind it.

Some users are showcasing their artistic talents by creating digital art with the Twitter bird nailed to the new logo.

Additionally, some have used Photoshop to depict the old Twitter bird expressing emotions like sadness or anger in response to the logo change, adding captions like, "I was fired". Some deemed the new logo “too simple” and took it on themselves to design their own versions of the new Twitter logo.
