Swap, don’t shop

Hyderabad Hub of the Global Shapers Community is hosting the city’s first-of-its-kind clothing swap called ‘Switcheroo’.

The Hyderabad Hub of the Global Shapers Community (GSC) is hosting the city’s first-of-its-kind clothing swap called Switcheroo on Sunday, April 28. The event has been developed in partnership with the Global Fashion Exchange and the Fashion Revolution organisations, which are working extensively towards making the fashion landscape more conscious and sustainable. For its first edition, Switcheroo has partnered with Archana Rao to curate the clothes and accessories that will go onto the “swap floor”.

Furthermore, Archana Rao label, Mishru and many local designers have donated exquisitely designed unsold clothes from their collections to help promote the cause of the event.

Clothing swaps are cool in more ways than one. To begin with, swapping allows to not only extend the life-cycle of clothes, but also refresh your own closet with another line of pre-loved clothing.

Over and above that, clothes swapping reduces your carbon footprint on the environment.

Here’s how: The clothing and textile industry is the second largest polluter of our planet after oil. Behind every new garment are a whole lot of resources that go into fabricating it. So by including pre-loved clothing, you are conserving resources and helping the environment.

“On the day of the event, we plan on having clothes and accessories in the men’s wear and women’s wear categories. Apart from introducing the concept of clothes swapping to the citizens of Hyderabad. We believe that by demonstrating the benefits of swapping over buying we can increase awareness in the power and impact of one’s purchasing

habits,” says Harshitha Venati, the Vice Curator of the Global Shapers Community Hyderabad Hub.

Venue: Collab House at Out of the Box, Greenpark Hotel

Time: 2pm- 6pm
