Nurses reveal the last words of dying patients in emotional video

Ironically, most people never get to say their final goodbyes to their loved ones and have to say them to hospital staff instead.

It is often said that a dying person does not lie. Perhaps this is why the last words of a person before their death remain something that their loved ones will rarely forget. But then what happens when family or friends are not around during someone’s last moments? The Indian Association of Palliative Care asked hundreds of nurses across the country to retell their patients’ last words in an emotional video.

In the video, the nurses – both young and old – reveal what their dying patients uttered before leaving this world. Some of the revelations are bittersweet – one patient shared a recipe that she wanted to pass to her family members while another confesses her love for her husband who ironically isn’t around. While some of them have their loved ones on their minds even as life is slipping from their hands – a dying parent wanted to give a final stamp of approval to his daughter’s choice and a wife wished for her husband to take care of their kids and himself.

Ironically, most people never get to say their final goodbyes to their loved ones and have to make do with saying their last words to hospital staff instead. Perhaps this video makes clear the need for more awareness about quality palliative care for terminal ill patients.
