Tagore Hall, a nightmare for connoisseurs
KOZHIKODE: The musical nights at Tagore Centenary Hall of Kozhikode Municipal Corporation are turning into nightmares for the connoisseurs after the air conditioning system stopped working properly. They now depend on "paper fans" and clothes to resist the heat and sweat. Despite the corporation carrying out repairing works at the cost of Rs 10 lakh recently, the generator stopped working.
It charges Rs 69,000 for marriages and Rs 25,000 for cultural programmes as rent. The hall is considered as one of the best in space. “There were two musical nights last week here. Despite being ardent musical buffs, many connoisseurs were seen leaving their seats due to the extreme heat,” said M. Murali, a city dweller.
“This is not the first time it is happening. Earlier also many programmes like this were marred by the apathy of corporation to repair the AC on time.” In previous incidents, many eminent persons including M.T. Vasudevan Nair and S. Janaki had expressed their displeasure over the faulty AC. “We had renovated the AC recently. However, the generator’s fault led to the recent issues. We have given strict instruction to the assistant engineer concerned to rectify it at the earliest,” said deputy mayor Meera Darshak.
