Six motorcyclists from India aim to rewrite Guinness World Records

Kolkata: Six adventurous motorcyclists from the city are aiming to rewrite the Guinness World Records by scaling 21,750 feet in the Rupshu Valley of Laddakh sector.

The team under the banner of North Calcutta Disha Motorcycle Club had earlier rode 20,488 feet and nine inches at the Changchemno Range near Marsemikla on August 29, four years ago. But the record has been bettered by a Chilean team which have climbed up to 21230 feet in an expedition with Suzuki, secretary of the club Santanu Roychowdhury told PTI.

"We don't want to see our names erased from the record books as we will attempt to climb 21750 feet this time," he said about their upcoming expedition which will is scheduled to be flagged off in the city on August 10. The team consisting Indradeb Chatterjee, Subrata Boral and three others have a budget of Rs 16 lakh for the project already approved by the Indian Mountaineering Foundation.

"The roads are absolutely not motorable. We will have some fine-tuning to the carburettor. Engines are like human body and we are the doctors," the six feet four inch tall rider said. "I use my height to advantage when the engine breaks
down," the team leader who will take four motocycles of 200cc engines added.
