Mumbai rain: Here's why it is trending on Twitter
Heavy rains lashed the metropolis and Thane district throughout the night and continued this morning, causing water-logging at several places and slowing the movement of suburban trains, thus causing inconvenience to office-goers.
However, the indomitable spirit of Mumbaikars was not to be throttled.
Despite widespread flooding that saw three people die across the city and wall collapsing in Wadala (not to mention water-logging in various areas), Mumbaikars took to Twitter to find humour in the situation.
A social media user posted,
Aqua Mumbaica is now open at your nearest pothole. Special rides include splash-a-puddle, gutter-drafting and rest! #MumbaiRains pic.twitter.com/e6iGuUXYdj

Congress MP Abhishek Singhvi's scathing satire was equally noticeable,
My good wishes to the people of Mumbai. The BJP govt under the joint leadership of Dev Fadnavis & Nitin Gadkari have truly mastered the art of inland waterways in the city. #MumbaiRains

Mumbai Police too were not far behind. Tweeting from their official handle, they wrote the 'bandobast' was all done for them to help civilians during the rain,
The showers are heavy but so is our ‘bandobast’ on the streets to ‘be there’ for Mumbaikars. We are #AlwaysUpForDuty to help you reach your destination with a little care & caution from you during your journey #RoadSafety #MumbaiRains pic.twitter.com/KFOgI4BTLv
