Starting a new tradition
For as long as I can remember, Id has always been a fixed routine starting with the morning prayers, mother’s sheer khorma, visiting the elders of the family and of course, the annual lunch with the entire family and friends at my grandmother’s place which was started way back in the ’60s. This is our first Id after marriage. It’s double the number of relatives to visit for both of us! Breaking traditions, this year we plan to just have a small lunch with the family at my grandmother’s place. Instead, Samiya and I are planning on hosting an Id lunch on the following day for all our friends. Hoping it turns into an annual affair like the one that my grandparents started years back. We are looking forward to spending quality time with the family as all my cousins, nephews and nieces are coming to town for Id! Having said all this, here’s wishing the most peaceful city in the country, that celebrates every religion and festival with immense pomp and pride — Id mubarak!

It’s all about family
Id is always special! And this time it’s even more special because it’s the first time we’re celebrating it together! It’s all about meeting family, and lots of good food. After a month of fasting, we really look forward to all the feasting. It’s Anam’s first Id here at my house, so she’s had the chance to shop more than she usually does. Id is one day of the year we all look forward to.

Looking forward to the festivities
This will be my first Id after marriage. It felt different not to be with my parents for Ramadan. I am sure Id will also feel different, but I am excited as it will be the first time I will be with Atif. We celebrate the festival with some old traditions .We start the day with prayers and then we go around meeting as many relatives as possible. Id for us have always been a three-day affair and am really looking forward to new clothes, bangles, mehendi and sheer khorma. An added advantage is the eidi, which we get from elders.

Ramadan is about growing spiritually
Since it’s a first, we will be spending more time with the elders of our family. A few days more and it will be the end of Ramadan, a month where we grow spiritually, find our soul and abstain from all the comforts life has to offer. Id is a celebration and we are so looking forward to it as it’s our first Id after our wedding.

It’s a double celebration
Ramadan has been a delightful experience as a newly married couple. Also, it doubles the excitement since we have been blessed with a baby girl. This Id is definitely extra special. It will also be super exciting as our little baby will also accompany us to an orphanage to offer Zakat.

On Id, our family and friends would be coming over to meet us and our little girl. We are planning for a sumptuous dinner comprising of authentic Iranian and Hyderabadi cuisine.
