Teacher explains the bad effects of bullying perfectly using two apples
Bullying is a menace that is unfortunately quite prevalent in schools nowadays and causes many children to undergo physical and emotional torment. So, one teacher decided to teach her students about the effect bullying has on a person by using apples as examples.
Rosie Dutton, coach in children’s programme Relax Kids Tamworth, introduced two similar-looking apples to her class. However, she hid the fact that one has been repeatedly dropped on the floor while the other was not. She then made the kids say mean things to the damaged apple while passing it around a circle. After that the other apple was also passed around but this time every child only spoke kind words to the fruit.
Dutton then held up both the apples again and stressed on their similarities that led the class to agree that despite using nasty words there was no outward change for the badly-treated apple. In the end, both apples were cut open and the children were left shocked. While the one that they’d said unkind words to had become bruised and mushy inside, the other apple was perfectly clear and fresh inside. “When people are bullied, especially children, they feel horrible inside and sometimes don't show or tell others how they are feeling. If we hadn't have cut that apple open, we would never have known how much pain we had caused it,” she wrote on Facebook.
