It is usually believed that life on earth is ruled by celestial bodies, i.e. the stars, the planets and the Sun, to such an extent that their movement and position in space decides where our lives would be heading. Actually, it is believed that the position of these celestial bodies at the time of our birth decides what lies in store for us in the future. We all know that there are 12 zodiac signs, each of which are designated to one constellation, having a specific characteristic. The sequence of these zodiac signs is Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces. A person’s zodiac sign is determined on the basis of the actual position of the Sun at the time of his/her birth. For example, if the Sun is present in the ‘Virgo constellation’ at the time of one’s birth, then their zodiac sign is ‘Virgo’.
These twelve zodiac signs are further grouped into four elements — earth, fire, air and water. These elements play an equally crucial role in determining the personality traits of an individual.
Usually, compatibility between people mostly depends on their understanding of each other, and their inclination to get into a sweet and peaceful relationship. There are chances that the relationship of two individuals belonging to the same element can end up in a disaster. For example, a relationship between Aries and Sagittarius is certain to end up as an unsuccessful bond if both fail to keep a check on their ego.
As mentioned earlier, the twelve zodiac signs are grouped into four elements, namely earth, fire, air and water. These four elements represent different temperaments and this may be used to evaluate the compatibility levels of the zodiac signs.
Zodiac signs that come under the earth element are Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn. Zodiac signs under the fire element are Aries, Sagittarius and Leo, air element comprise of Gemini, Libra and Aquarius and the water element has Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces grouped under it.
FIRE SIGNS: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius
A fire sign gets along very well with air signs. The energetic and enthusiastic fire signs complement the changing and versatile characteristics of the air signs. But in order to sustain their relationship, both the signs need to put in a lot of effort.
On the other hand, a fire sign and water sign can never get along very well. This is because water signs are way too emotional for the fire signs to deal with. The fire signs’ enthusiasm could be overwhelming for water signs. The connection of a fire sign with a fellow fire sign tends to nurture similar energy but often it is difficult to reach a compromise when it comes to their ego.
AIR SIGNS: Aquarius, Gemini, Libra
Those who belong to the air sign group have outstanding communication skills. Due to this air signs are compatible with fellow air signs, fire signs as well as water signs. But they don’t share the same bonding with the earth signs. The connection between two individuals under the same air signs could seem impractical but they consider each other intellectually stimulating. The combination of an earth sign and air sign can only work if both of them are ready to stay together as a team. If the partner with the air sign starts criticising their partner a lot, they might be let down.
EARTH SIGNS: Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn
All the zodiac signs under the element of earth are highly compatible with fellow earth signs and tend to appreciate each other’s need for stability and find comfort in each other. This combination is very soothing and promotes inner peace. Likewise, they are also well-matched with water signs. The stable and dependable traits of the earth sign balance the sensitive and emotional traits of the water signs. In return, water sign soothes and replenishes the earth. The traits of earth signs are difficult to deal with for the enthusiastic signs under the fire element. Therefore, these two are never a suitable match for each other.
WATER SIGNS: Scorpio, Pisces, Cancer
Water signs are not compatible with fire signs. They will agree to disagree and will never reconcile. Water tends to share a pleasant relationship with fellow earth signs, there is a great mix of energies that will promote a healthy and balanced relationship. Water likes to flow gently on its own time and rhythm, while air wants to make movements and stir things up. The individuals under these two signs may end up disliking each other. Two individuals under the same water signs will be sensitive to each other’s needs, but it will be very difficult for them to deal with emotional turmoil of each other.
Having said all this, I would like to say that just because the two sun signs are not compatible, doesn’t mean that the relationship will not be successful. It just takes a positive outlook and some extra efforts on the part of the two individuals to ensure their relationship sails through troubled waters.
