Watch: Friends of boy with cerebral palsy let him win sports race in sweet gesture

The boy had refused to participate earlier because he was afraid that everyone would laugh at him.

A 10-year-old boy suffering from cerebral palsy ended up winning the gold medal on sports day at school thanks to his kind-hearted classmates.

Daniel Boyers, from St Oswalds Catholic Primary School, in Wigan had earlier told his mother that he did not want to take part in the running race because he was afraid that everyone would laugh at him.

He recently underwent an ankle surgery and felt that his classmates would laugh at him if he tried to run with his plaster cast, reports the Daily Mail.

However, after loads of encouragement from his mother and friends, he finally decided to give it a try. But Daniel was in for a lovely surprise after he realised that he had overtaken everyone. This was only possible because the other youngsters participating alongside him decided to slow down and let him win the race.

The video of the touching gesture shows the boys running alongside Daniel before halting and allowing him to pass them and win the gold.

The video ends with David stepping over the red tape and shouting with joy after realising that he had finally won.
