Tunes of Telangana
The recently concluded World Telugu Conference had many high points, including a world-class dance performance conceptualised by the renowned danseuse, Deepika Reddy.
The spectacular performance saw a talented troupe of two hundred dancers representing the glory of Telangana’s literary stalwarts. The dancers enchanted the packed Lal Bahadur Shastri stadium, which included eminent delegates of the Conference.
The performance showcased excerpts from the works of eminent poet Pot-hana and renowned litterateur Vagyeyakara Ramadasu. The episodes depicted the advent of Lord Vishnu’s Narasimha avatar annihilating Hiranyakashipu and the melodious song Paluke Bangaramayena, among others. The visually aesthetic stage show also introduced various tourist destinations of Hyderabad — Charminar, Golconda, Hussain Sagar, Falaknuma and Chowmohalla.
The show’s highlight was a lively folk dance depicting rural Telangana. The ultimate climax had some two hundred-odd dancers presenting an ode to the Telangana Thalli. The production was scripted by Suddala Ashok Teja and Vaddepalli Krishna, while the music was composed by DSV Sastry.
