Female trainee neurosurgeon shares shocking reason male boss told her to change jobs

The woman shared her story on Twitter and many are outraged.

Want a husband and children? Change you job.

That was what a female trainee neurosurgeon was told by her mal boss, the Daily Mail reported.

Emily Mills, who's studying in Brighton, posted two tweets to share the shocking exchange she had with the man.

The now deleted tweets read:

"Excellent. First day back in fourth year on Neurosurgery and told by a male registrar that in 10 years time when I have a husband and children that I probably won't want to be a surgeon so I should be something else instead. What a way to start placement #everydaysexism."

"No wonder all my female colleagues are unsure of a career in surgery or are put off when you're told you can't do it before you've even had a chance to try."

While she took to Twitter to express her frustration thousands responded with support and encouragement.

Here are some of the responses as reported by the Daily Mail:

@rabbitholer wrote: 'He's probably scare [sic] of the competition! You'll be great! And then, with time, you'll outshine him! :-)'

@KirstyWalker__ added: 'Find his line manager and have a word. Also contact your university and inform them of this. This is wholly unacceptable. Drag him honey, do us proud.'

Mills has since taken down the tweets that went viral and tweeted the social media platform "may not be the best place for" for this kind of discussion, even though it needs to be talked about.
