Mompreneur's memoirs

This city entrepreneur's book chronicles maternity from a personal perspective...

Twenty nine-year-old momprenuer turned author, Banani Das always dreamt of writing a book. But, it wasn’t until she got pregnant, that she was able to strike the goal off her bucket list. Her debut book Emotions and Elation is a straight-from-the-heart memoir, which chronicles the turmoils and lesser talked about issues that one experiences during maternity. The book hit the stands in June “It has been well received by young adults and young parents alike,” says the happy author.

While researching for the book, Banani found that, “There are a lot of manuals and self-help books. But, this is a personal account on many of experiences and emotions of both me and my partner. I’ve recorded the emotions my husband underwent throughout the period. Unfortunately, despite pregnancy being something that both the parents wade through, a lot of focus is only given to the mother. I wanted to change that, because an understanding partner takes equal part in the entire process.” Banani also runs a digital content venture now. “I quit my job in the month in December 2016. In 2017, I launcheda blog of sorts. I’ve been active and on my toes all throughout my pregnancy!,” she shares.

The book, which took her about a year to finish, is what Banani is banking all her hopes on. “I am happy that new age Indians have given a smarter spin to pregnancy. My book encapsulates all that and more. I really hope both new mums and dads relate to my book, and this is not just another self help during pregnancy but an insight into how to understand yourself and your body better. I would love for new parents to come and give me their views... that should be interesting.”

Exploring new domains has been something she has always pursued. Speaking of which she states, “I would love to pursue singing too. Let’s see how it goes.” While she loves to pursue her new-found love for authoring; travelling stands a close second. “I’ve been travelling across the country.I would like to write a travel book soon. But, one thing at a time!” she signs off.
