Da Bong of the creative spirit!
In Kolkata, Bengalis have immense pride in their city but, on the other hand, the city has fewer job opportunities which is undoubtedly, one of the reasons why Bengalis flock to Bengaluru in search for better jobs. When it comes to procuring a job in Kolkata, the salary is meagre and slowly many Bengalis have started shifting to Bengaluru for work. They have adapted themselves to the diversified work culture and finally, many small and large communities of Bengalis are thriving over the entire city.
The Bengalee Association dates back to 1959, where all of the community come together for festivals, celebrations and more. Infact, it recently launched a youth wing for Bengalis to showcase their talents and also connect this thriving set of people. Abhishek Dey, general manager operations at Salt Indian Restaurant Bar and Grill says, “In Bengaluru, job opportunities are more, the climate is better and it is a friendly place to live in. I have been living here for two years and in terms of communication as well, Bengaluru is better. It is a perfect city to settle down as it is affordable compared to Mumbai and Delhi.”
Bengaluru is one of the most desired cities to work in for all kinds of professions, which makes it a favourite. Abhijit Saha, chef and restaurateur at Caperberry who has been living here for 17 years says, “Bengaluru is a great city to live in and has better job prospects too. I came here for my job and eventually, settled down here. A hassle-free city with a good climate, there are many beautiful places nearby for travellers. The famous Bengali community comes together and celebrates their festivals. Bengaluru gives you a feeling of home away from home.”
Most Bengalis complete their education in Kolkata and in this city never disappoints them, given its creative opportunities as well. “I have spent five years here, and I love the city. The city is well-developed and it is constantly evolving which is one of the main factors. Bengaluru creates job prospects for all which further helps in shaping one’s career.” says Abhijit Kumar, a bank manager.
With the city being a place where every other day, a new start-up company is born, Kuntal Sen, a web designer feels, “Bengaluru is one such city where a person with average salary package can survive and also massive opportunities are open for freshers. Starting from IT companies to hotels there is work for everyone to explore.”
