Video: 76-year-old woman from Kerala displays her incredible Kalaripayattu skills

Meenakshiamma from Vatakara, Kerala has become popular all over the social media recently. Wondering why?

At the age of 76, she is a teacher and exponent of Kalaripayattu.

Kalaripayattu is an ancient Indian martial art form where sticks, swords, shields and daggers are used. It is one of the oldest known fighting systems in the world.

A video recently went viral where Meenakshiamma showed her incredible Kalariapayattu skills.

The clip was posted on Facebook page titled India Arising with caption, "This is 76 years old Meenakshiamma, from Vatakara. She teaches Kalaripayattu martial art!!. Our country doesn't need more rules to protect women; we need more Meenakshi Ammas."

The video has got over 1 million views and 9,000 likes.

The footage shows Meenakshiamma wielding a stick against a man who looks much younger and also her student. Everyone around was cheering, whistling and clapping.
