Slowling waking up to the consequences that our screen-lit-bustle carry, people are now willing to take health into their own hands. This observation and a penchant for all things organic gave Rajshree Maheshwari, a Bengaluru girl and entrepreneur the impetus to start out with Matcha Culture, a tea brand. “Matcha is a well renowned ‘superfood’ which can be traced back to the Japanese roots.

Obtained from the same plant as green tea, matcha is grown and harvested in an intricate process with utmost care to trap the chlorophyll in the tea leaves to ensure that you extract the maximum goodness from the product. This makes matcha a very potent ingredient, which is scientifically proven to nutritionally equate to 10 cups of regular green tea,” elucidates the alumnus of University College, London. She’s had her share of 9-5s too. Having begun her professional career down a conventional path when she worked with an investment banking firm & a travel start-up, Rajshree knew that she wanted to do more in life sitting behind a desk. While making a shift was far from easy, it became a reality through her travels, especially to Europe which cemented a vision to create a brand in India that promotes health and well-being.

The true blue city girl is a health aficionado herself. “Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is paramount. I try to infuse that motto into my own life by incorporating yoga and gym into my daily routine, coupled with a healthy diet. I also indulge in occasional adventure activities such as trekking and scuba diving,” states Rajshree, who also believes she was made to tread the entrepreneurial path.”I was born and raised in Bengaluru. I always wanted to have a start-up of my own, given that the learning curve from starting my own brand would be exponential and it would be a very fulfilling experience,” she adds.

Despite a choc a block schedule, Rajshree finds time for her other interests. “I am passionate about dance and have a new-found interesting playing the piano.” Concluding how the whole crux of her venture tilts towards one thing: Embracing a healthy lifestyle.

“It is rewarding on multiple levels and helps to strike the right kind of balance amidst today’s daily hustle. It’s a feel-good factor, you constantly feel energetic and that radiates from within you. I would recommend everyone to take a step towards a leaner, cleaner and greener lifestyle.”
