Ravi Shankar Prasad trolled for comparing demonetisation woes to labour pain
New Delhi: People have been struggling in lines outside banks and ATMs ever since the government announced the demonetisation of high denomination currencies. There has been an outcry about the inconvenience caused to the public by the move as violence was also reported.
Recently, veteran BJP leader and current Minister of Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad compared the whole move to labour pain. “People will face a little problem. But the pain is like the one that a woman in labour undergoes. Eventually one will experience the joy like one does hearing the first cry of a baby,” said Prasad, supporting the move.
It is not the first time that a minister has found it important to comment on a situation and support it while making ridiculous statements. Twitter however didn’t take it well and while many supported the minister, the rest just went all out and criticized the minister.
When @rsprasad compared #Demonetisation to labour pain, I wonder if he knew that 45,000 women die during childbirth every year in India

While demonetisation is one of the issues Indians are struggling with, politicians continue to come up with foot-and-mouth moments on a regular basis.
