Uber's sexist promotional message in Bengaluru outrages Twitterati
Social media users were outraged by Uber's latest promotional message sent to customers in Bengaluru which many deemed sexist.
In the message, husbands were urged to “let your wife take a day off from the kitchen" by taking advantage of its Uber Eats food delivery service, BBC reported.
The tweet reportedly read: "Dear husbands, a gentle reminder - today is Wife Appreciation Day."

After receiving a series of angry tweets over the message, the company removed the tweet and apologised.
"We've removed it, and we apologise," Uber stated on the social media platform.
Bozoma Saint John, Uber's chief brand ambassador also shared her outrage and said it was "unacceptable".
Oh hell no. This is completely unacceptable. Will take care of this.

Here's are some of the tweets that sum up the general consensus about the unwise decision.
Thank you @Uber for defining gender roles in India. Of course women are meant to slog it out in the kitchen & the men need to BUY us freedom https://t.co/EW57ZyXdnG

Sorry @uber but why do you think that only the "wife" needs to be at the kitchen! 😠pic.twitter.com/HzjlBsdT34

hi @dkhos, @badassboz, would be great if your $69 billion company stopped perpetrating regressive gender stereotypes in India. https://t.co/jr2UXxsBGn
