Park' yourself here!
With six days of hustle at work, the thought of Sunday arriving faster passes through everybody's mind. Sleeping in on a Sunday after having been woken up by your alarm, that rings all week long, is hands down, the best feeling ever. But, you know what's better? Waking up early and spending the morning at Cubbon Park.! Happiness there can be best described as two wheels, a book, four paws and rejuvenating air and greenery. The atmosphere is completely different as compared to any other day in the week and it is totally worth losing your extra sleep over.
Sangeetha Reddy, an architecture student shares, “I usually go to Cubbon to spend time with my dog and let him play with the other dogs. All week long, I'm caught up with assignments and spending mornings there is equivalent to me sleeping at home. The atmosphere is overwhelming and a great stress buster.” She adds that it is a hub for dog lovers and the number of people visiting with their pets is increasing. Sangeetha also believes that the cycles given out on rent is a very good initiative for cycling enthusiasts.
Cubbon Park has a lot of events lined up on Sunday's from art galleries to dance performances along with the Mobile Library, which is a bus turned into a library that reaches at 10 AM and leaves at 5 pm allowing book lovers to read throughout the day. There is also an initiative which is the renting of cycles, by submitting your Aadhar card and taking it back once your return the cycle, promoting a healthy lifestyle. A number of stalls also sell healthy organic fruits and drinks which people purchase after their daily morning walk or jog.
“People with/without pets are not hesitant to talk to others, everyone is a friend here. The place gives out positive vibes with people of all ages out on the streets early in the morning and pets with their own space” says Avani Kudalkar, who loves spending her Sunday mornings at Cubbon Park in the relaxed atmosphere with people relieving their stress in various ways from petting dogs to riding bicycles.
Anusha Bhat, an undergraduate student of psychology, talks about how different the atmosphere on Sunday's is with a lot more crowd than usual. “Some people feel motivated to keep themselves healthy looking at the people around. Some plan picnics with their families which helps them de-stress better.” Anusha says that she has noticed how some people who are possessive of their pets do not interact much with others but on a whole, people who visit are generally in a good mood and greet everybody with smiles.
Brity Ann John, a dog enthusiast, spends three out of four of the Sundays in a month at Cubbon Park. He says, “A beautiful Sunday morning – the greenery, the air, laughter and happy family memories, this is what defines perfect. Everyone who comes there is searching for a peaceful no-work day morning and that is exactly what they get!” Brity occasionally reads at the mobile library and finds the concept very interesting which promotes reading, having books ranging across genres and loves how having pets in someway makes people ‘more human’ and cordial.
You define your kind of a perfect Sunday morning; Cubbon Park will allow you to execute it perfectly along with a beautiful weather and fresh oxygen which could brighten up anyone's day in an instant.
