Man divorces wife on wedding night because she was too busy texting friends

A Saudi husband was so irked when he found his bride texting her friends instead of responding to his advances that he ended their marriage. The man had taken his bride back to their hotel room after the wedding ceremony in the city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

But when he tried to get intimate with her, he was pushed away by his bride as she wanted to respond to the congratulatory messages from friends on her phone. She also became irritated when her husband demanded her to stop and pay attention to him. “When he asked her if her friends were more important than he was, the bride answered that they were,” a relative said, reports Saudi daily Al Watan.

Even though a court referred the case to a reconciliation committee, the husband was adamant on divorcing his wife, Gulf News citing Al Watan reported. Saudi legal expert Ahmad Al Maabi says that around 50 per cent of divorces in the country involve newlyweds.
