Architect of change

The entrepreneur was also on the Advisory Executive Council for WEF last month.

Hyderabad-based entrepreneur Rumana Sinha Sehgal was recently conferred with an International Award at the Women Economic Forum (WEF) ‘17 at New Delhi in the category, Iconic Women Creating a Better World for All.

Talking about her achievement, the managing director and founder of Serendipity, which specialises in papier mache, furniture and articles made from recycled products, says, “It’s an honour to be on the Advisory Executive Council for WEF ’17, which was held last month.”

Elaborating on her award, she says, “I was one of the panellists from India in the plenary session with women from different countries for ‘Driving the future through Entrepreneurship and Creativity’ and was conferred with the award for the same.”

Rumana’s focus in the plenary was how the synergy of social entrepreneurship and creativity made it possible for her as a woman entrepreneur from India to create recycled art in various forms. She says, “My aim is to provide a sustainable livelihood for my artisans. I believe that logic gets you from one destination to the other while imagination takes you everywhere. It’s only when I believed in possibilities, that I was able to channel it into creativity and carve my own path as an artist — an architect of change.”
