Paati and a dog capture hearts
We live in a time where hate mail, trolling, body shaming and such trends have almost become synonymous with social media. The last couple of weeks have been all about heinous crimes and netizens taking to social media platforms to condemn the acts. Amidst all the rage and hashtags that chocked the screens, we happened to stumble upon a tweet, or rather a series of tweets, that felt like a breather, a relief from the ugly truths of our society.
The ‘thread’, as it is technically known, was something that looked straight out of a children’s book. It was as if you could visualise everything that was written, as if you could feel it and at the end of it, a sense of joy and contentment prevails. A chennaiite took to Twitter to share a heartwarming anecdote of a paati and a dog and got an enormous response to a simple tale that seemed to touch hundreds of hearts.
We couldn’t agree more with her and we do need more of this compassion and humanity. It was amazing how something so simple could tug the hearts of so many people even though it wasn’t a celebrity trolling or a politician’s display of popularity; it wasn’t a star baby either. It was all that is ordinary and yet found a way to the hearts and minds of today’s netizens. In no time people took to Twitter sharing how they loved this anecdote.
They say, with internet and everything tech savvy, we are living in a global village, but amidst all the circus that takes place in this village every minute of every day, people are actually devoid of more human or rather humane emotions and this simple tale of a paati and the dog makes us want to go back to a world that was all about love and co-existence.
