Devamatha CMI School students make it to records
Thrissur: The exceptional oratorical performance by 533 kindergarten kids at Devamatha CMI School has found its way into the India Book of Records. The campus on Thursday reverberated with their performance, including seven challenged children, during the programme ‘The Word-Junior’. They were given topics related to societal, political, historical or popular culture and in 30 seconds to two minutes they completed their speech from memory, as no notes were allowed.
Soon after they set the record, the Records authorities handed over the certificate. Fr Walter Thelappilly, CMI Devamatha Province, inaugurated the event in the presence of P.B. Usha, adjudicator, India Book of Records. The event was in different stages where tiny tots queued up for their turn with a tremendous amount of confidence. Fr Shaju Edamana, the principal of the institute, said the enthusiasm among the kids was indeed unprecedented. “We desire to promote their literary skills to mould excellent orators and instill self-confidence to overcome their stage fear,” he told DC.
